End of first few weeks recycling

Well yesterday we had our usual household waste bin collected, and I'm glad to say it was a lot less full than normal.

The first few weeks of recycling have been going well. I've setup a couple of cardboard boxes around the house for all the different things we should be recycling and so far we've been remembering pretty well to put the right stuff in the right boxes and not in the normal bin.

Over the coming months I plan to get some proper recycling bins from http://www.homerecycling.co.uk/ they have a huge range of stackable bins that would be a lot nicer than my current cardboard boxes.

Also on the general green front, I've finally got round to changing the last two standard light bulbs in my house to be power saving bulbs. We do however still have some lights that are working off dimmers, so for the moment they can't be changed over. However I've found some manufactures that do power saving light bulbs that are compatible with dimmers, unfortunately I still can't find a supplier. If I wasn't living in a rented house I would simply just change the dimmers to normal switches.

We have a few little lamps in the house that currently use halogen bulbs, I'm thinking of trying some of the new LED replacements that are coming onto the market to see if they are any good.

In the next few weeks I'm hoping to post some programming articles of some kind as that's what this blog was originally meant for, so you'll have to see what happens.
